Bake Sale Fundraiser

My name is Laura Koszeghy and I am a current life scout in Troop 57. I am currently working towards my Eagle rank and I need your help. I am hosting a bake sale on August 31st for donations for the needed materials for my project. I am working alongside the Evanston Ecology to build 3 raised flower beds. These beds will allow for accessible gardening and a healthy environment for the plants to grow in.

I am hosting this bake sale at OLPH from 7AM-1:30 PM. I need people in the morning and afternoon to help me set up the tables and lay out the food. I need 3 people including myself for each shift which is approximately 1 hour long. Please come in uniform to the bake sale and bring any baked goods you can. I am going to have 2 tables set up to cover the 2 main entrances/exits of the church, 2 people at each table. Even if you aren’t working the bake sale please feel free to come by and bring baked goods for me to sell. To sign up please select a shift from the sign up genius linked below.

Any baked goods are welcome, if nuts, gluten, and eggs are included please let me know so I can put an allergy sign next to it. Also please feel free to donate to the troop zelle which will be linked down below. All the proceeds go to my project and towards buying materials. Any donation is welcome and much appreciated. My goal is to reach $650 for my project so any amount is greatly appreciated.

For my actual project itself

I am looking for any and all available scouts looking for service hours and wanting to help out on this project. This is a great opportunity for the younger scouts to learn more about the Eagle Scout Rank and project as well as service as a whole.

We are going to be working on this project from 9-2:30 on Saturday and on Sunday from 9-5/when the work is done. This project will require some manual labor so please come prepared in close toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Please bring work gloves as we may be doing some brief landscaping and working with soil as we fill in the beds on Sunday. I recommend bringing sun protection (sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, and full body covering clothing), a water bottle, snacks if wanted, a shovel, and a great attitude. These things are not required but strongly encouraged and recommended (especially the attitude part ;)).

On Saturday (Aug 23) the troop will be constructing the actual beds with the younger scouts focusing on leveling the ground and working on basic weeding. The older scouts will be helping with the bed assembling with labeling parts, measuring, and marking the wood. Once the older scouts have an idea of the basic bed construction they will work in teams to help and guide the younger scouts to assemble the beds.

On Sunday (Aug 24) the same older scouts will be helping complete the beds along with the younger scouts and put them in their final homes. Finally all the scouts will work together and place the soil in the beds to get them ready to be planted by the Ecology Center. We will be working till we finish on Sunday, if this isn’t accomplishable I will allocate another work day in which I and the older scouts will be completing the project.

This project is a really important part of Scouting culture, caring for our community, giving back, and taking care of our common home. Please feel free to help and support my project. There are many ways to do so such as: working on the designed work days, donating to my go fund me, and helping with the bake sale with selling or bringing baked goods.

Thank you so much for the continued support and I look forward to sharing my project with you all. I am currently in my home stretch till October for when I turn 18, so please help me on this journey and project.
