Grant Pilgrimage Galena
The U.S. Grant Pilgrimage is an annual Boy Scouts of America event held in Galena, Illinois each April, honoring Ulysses S. Grant with activities like a historical trail hike, a Civil War encampment, historical presentations, and a parade through the historic downtown
We camped out nearby at the Apple River Fort.
Scouts complete a “history hunt” by trying to find all of the historical sites hidden throughout the city.
There are a ton of historical site and artifacts to find. And there are plenty of reenactments to help us learn more.
The day ends with a scouts parading though the city showing off their scout pride.
